Grand Old Partisan honors Giles Hotchkiss, born in upstate New York, October 25th 1815. This conscientious attorney was delegate at the 1860 Republican National Convention.
In 1862, Hotchkiss won the first of three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He fully supported the Union war effort. Receiving his vote were GOP achievements such as the 13th and 14th Amendments, the 1866 Civil Rights Act, and the (anti-) Ku Klux Klan Act.
