Grand Old Partisan salutes Nathaniel Head, born in New Hampshire, May 20th 1828. The family construction business focused on railroad development, while a kiln produced 7-8 million bricks annually. He also promoted banking and insurance. Entry to politics was the state house. During the Civil War, a Republican Governor made him adjutant general. Democrats overturned his narrow election to the state senate because some voters had written his popular name "Natt" instead of his legal name "Nathaniel". He won decisively the next two times, rising to be senate pro tempore.
